Harper’s Crossroads, North Carolina

The Devil’s Tramping Ground has been striking fear into local residents and visitors alike since the 18th century. The legend goes that the devil himself visited this spot pacing around as he called up his demons and planned his evil deeds to wreak havoc among the living. The pacing left a near perfect circle about forty to fifty feet in diameter. Surrounding vegetation grows up to the edge and then stops. Soil was tested in September 2015 and results determined that the soil inside the circle is no less fertile than the area outside. Vegetation should be growing… But it isn’t. Wether this is a paranormal event of the most dangerous of entities or simply an urban legend, spun out of proportion for centuries. It is definitely rich with history and its mystery lives up to the moniker it has acquired.
